Tips for PowerPoint Worship Presentations

Whether you're a new church plant or established congregation, there are many things you can do to make PowerPoint during praise and worship go smoothly.

  • Get your A/V team and worship team on the same page! Worship needs to make sure A/V knows the set list each Sunday and order of lyrics for every song.

  • Establish a PowerPoint worship presentation library. Save each song in its own PowerPoint file, and save them in an easily accessible place.

  • Create a slide for each verse, chorus and bridge in a song (even if they are repeated).

  • Limit the amount of lines on a slide. Four or five in a large, plain font is best. Times New Roman, Arial, Verdana or Courier work well. Worship is not the time to play with funky fonts!

  • Proofread! The lyrics you copied from the web may vary from the lyrics your worship team is using.

  • Print each song's PowerPoint slides. Keep them in an alphabetized binder for a quick reference so you can quickly answer, "How many choruses are we doing on Awesome God?"

  • Make sure your PowerPoint backgrounds and text colors don't clash. What looks great on your computer may look awful when projected on a large screen.
